AMERICAN WATER, Voorhees, NJ                                                                             2009 – 2018

Employs 6,900 professionals who provide regulated and market-based drinking water, wastewater services and other related services to an estimated 15 million people in 46 states and in Ontario, Canada.

Principal Product Manager, Technology and Innovation (2017 to 2018)

AMERICAN WATER ENTERPRISES, Cherry Hill, NJ

Reported to Chief Enablement Officer and managed 9-12 technical professionals responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT Solutions for products to support 700 employees across four lines of business: Military Services Group, Contract Services Group, Homeowner Services, and Corporate. Built Agile teams to assist in faster delivery with greater business participation. Partnered with two Product Owners on prioritization of work and planning of sprints.

  • Focused on Product Management for Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics CRM that included system enhancements and normal maintenance.

  • Delivered on key functionality to reduce pain points after Business Transformation go-live by building key 3rdparty Partnerships.

  • Coached team on Agile practices and provided Technical Guidance to allow for more consistent releases to the business and better meet their expectations.
     

Director, Information Technology Services(2012 to 2017)

AMERICAN WATER, SERVICE COMPANY, Cherry Hill, NJ 

Reported to CIO and managed 37-75 technical professionals covering five Information Technology functions: Application Development, Project Management, Release Management, Software Quality Assurance, Enterprise Architecture, and Business Analysis / Business Cases. Oversaw development and support for applications used by entire organization, Release Management for consistent system releases, prioritization, and communication of the Project Management Office for maintaining company’s Project Portfolio. Collaborated with Business Stakeholder Committees to ensure ITS was working on approved items. 

  • Focused on process improvements and delivering large-scale quality projects to clients, resulting in more consistent Project Management processes and consistent delivery of applications that also met Audit requirements and Service Levels.

  • Partnered with Business Transformation Project Team to support and develop non-SAP components / interfaces to ensure successful delivery of Transformation Project in a shortened timeframe. 

  • Improved Release Management strategy to be used by Company to ensure consistent, quality releases were delivered after initial SAP go-live. Improved understanding of Release Management process - why it was needed, and the benefits. 

  • Financial Management of $25M capital budget used to ensure SAP systems were effectively operating to allow business clients to realize their intended benefits.Managed overall capital budget of $47M and ensured resource planning was in place and prioritization was accomplished.

  • Acted as temporary CIO for Market Based Business to allow a peer to focus entirely on delivering Business Transformation project for that side of the business.

 

Manager, Application Development ITS, Voorhees, NJ (2009 to 2012)

Reported to Director of Application Development and managed group of 12-14 technical employees covering development and support for applications used by Field / Operations personnel, Database Management support, Business Intelligence for Field and Call Center personnel, Release Management for Legacy systems, and support and development for Company’s Enterprise Resource / Portfolio Management tools.

  • Acted as Director of Application Development / PMO for 3-4-months while CIO was on FMLA.

  • Led and developed Release Management strategy that was used for 2-3 major legacy applications.

  • Partnered with Innovation and Field Teams to drive the implementation of a new real-time meter reading technology from Ideation to Delivery that saved $12M a year.

 

PHH MORTGAGE, Mount Laurel, NJ                                                                        1996 to 2008

Largest subservicers of residential mortgages in the U.S.  Employs 1100 professionals who provide servicing and portfolio retention solutions to investors.

Vice President, Information Technology Department(2006 to 2008)

Managed 29 employees, five direct reports, and 14-20 professional contractors across multiple vendors covering Client Systems Integration, Software Q/A, and Lifecycle Management. Facilitated testing of major quarterly releases that automated business and client processes; adhered to all auditable standards, including SOX Governance. Ensured teams performed all applicable evaluations, including Functional, Regression, Automation, User Acceptance, Performance, and Unit Testing. Acted as IT Business Relationship Manager and Client Advocate to coordinate IT presales efforts with prospective clients and resolve issues. 

  • Maintained yearly $4.2M budget with no discrepancies and no overages. 

  • Coordinated two major projects and 80-100 maintenance items per quarter, which included bug fixes and smaller enhancements to software systems.

  • Developed faster to-market approach for next generation Loan Origination platform by assembling project team to define and document Iterative Software Development Model and ensure that model complied with SAS70 and SOX standards.
     

Director, Information Technology Department(2001 to 2006)

Managed 25-30 technical professioals in the areas of middleware and Configuration Management / Process team. Evaluated tools for requirements management and software versioning and implemented Borland tools after defining waterfall model for SDLC application development from process perspective. Established metrics and reporting program to assist with daily role of operations, including identification of process improvements and tracking of defect trends.

  • Reduced IT department’s manual labor costs by 2-3 hours per day by implementing Metrics Reporting and producing automated reports.

  • Directed 25-member, middle-tier development team that developed all business logic services and maintenance processes, including new automated service conditions for loan approvals.

Migrated Company from client-server to n-tier model in conjunction with Company’s largest investor.
